It can be a bit daunting to come to a service without knowing what to expect.
Here is a glimpse of what a typical Sunday looks like.
When people visit us for the first time, they are often surprised – in a positive way! When you come in, the Coffee Lounge looks more like a living room than a church: comfortable seats, a drinks bar, homemade cakes and a warm welcome. We think that first impressions are important.
Our services are relaxed, (no need for ‘Sunday best’) passionate and family friendly. We preach from the Bible, worship Jesus with music and praise and take Communion together each week.
What kind of church is Hafenkirche?
We are a evangelical free church and part of the Frankfurt Evangelical Alliance. We belong to Relational Mission – a family of more than 75 Protestant and charismatic churches worldwide. You can find out more about our values and beliefs here.
Our services start at 10:30 am (coffee and tea are available from 10:00 am) and last until about 12:00 noon. At the same time as the church service, children have their own children's service - HafenKids.
After the service, there is still plenty of time to sit together, drink a nice cup of tea or coffee and eat cake 😀
Hafenkirche has a very informal feel and we try to make everyone feel at home.
Food, glorious food!
Since our church was first established, eating together has been an important way for us to express family and community. We continue this tradition with a ‘Bring & Share’ lunch on the first Sunday of every month.
If you are planning a first visit, this is a great opportunity to get to know us, and there is always enough food for guests. We also have many great cooks and bakers in the church – so it would be a shame to miss out!
Public transport
Hafenkirche is about a 5-minute walk from Frankfurt Central Station or from Messe Frankfurt Station.
Arriving by car
On Sundays, parking on the street is free in the area, but not easy to find! If you arrive by car, we recommend using the public car park in the nearby Skyline Plaza (also about a 5-minute walk).
