Our Story
It all began with a walk in the park...
In the spring of 2014, God spoke to Simon as he was walking in a park in central London. Out of nowhere, he saw a very clear vision of a map of Germany. Frankfurt was clearly marked on the map, with many lines coming out from it (like you see in an in-flight magazine). In that moment, Simon heard a clear call from God to move his family to Germany to start a new church.
Shortly after Christmas in 2014, Simon and his wife Natalie (originally from Frankfurt) moved to Germany with their three young sons. By the autumn of 2015, a small core team had formed and we began meeting in each other's homes to worship together.
In November 2016, we held our first public service at the Historical Museum Frankfurt. We continued to meet in various locations until we started regular weekly services in February 2019 in Walter-Kolb-Straße, Sachsenhausen.
In October 2023, we moved to our current venue in Ludwigstraße in the Bahnhofsviertel in the centre of Frankfurt. We have spent many months renovating, (and are still continuing with this project!) so that we could make the place our very own in our Hafenkirche way! – we hope you will like them.
God has given us an ambitious vision for Hafenkirche to become a vibrant hub in the city, serving the people of Frankfurt and also as a base for resourcing and planting many churches throughout Germany.
